The Dodecanese Greek island of Kastellorizo – or Meis, as it’s known in Turkish – lies just off the Turkish coast, and has had a turbulent history. Even now, it is so close to the border between Greece and Turkey that it can be caught up in international disputes between the two countries. Yet this view from an ancient fortress on the hill above the town speaks of tranquillity, the sea still and peaceful, untroubled by the restlessness of human beings.
